Rib Flare

Rib Flare Treatments

Rib Flairing Bandage Treatment

We used to surgically remove cartilage and ribs that stood out and visually disturbed the patient. Now we provide the improvement of this discomfort by wearing the "Pectus Bandage", which we have specially manufactured, around the clock (except for the bathroom) day and night. 3-6 months of treatment provides correction of the deformity.

In pectus excavatum and some pectus carinatum patients, the ribs may protrude outward in the rib cage, on both sides of the faith board, in the area we call the arcuatum, which consists of cartilage at the bottom of the rib cage. This outward bulge in the form of wings visually makes the ladies very uncomfortable, in particular. This dislocation does not cause any damage to any internal organs. But this dislocation can cause severe pain in places where children touch the ground when entering the sea, entering the pool, or lying face down. They are very uncomfortable with this.

Until last year, we were treating these rib dislocations with surgery. But last year, we brought the bandage treatment applied by a friend of ours in the UK in his clinic to Turkey and arranged for companies in Turkey to do it. The patient, like an orthosis, wraps this bandage around this dislocated rib and carries this bandage on it for 24 hours and can treat this dislocated rib with bandage pressure. We see that this has completely improved in about 3 to 6 months as a period. The bandage is a very simple tool, a simple method of treatment. Within three to six months, the dislocation completely corrects the ribs. But again, this, as with many other pectus carinatums, parallels the success rate of treatment with early diagnosis, early detection. In terms of duration, dislocated ribs completely recover within six months.

Previously, we were correcting these dislocated ribs by operating on the patient in the treatment of these dislocated ribs, and completely removing the dislocated parts of the patient in the treatment of these dislocated ribs. Because we thought that the weakening of the rib cage in that part did not cause any harm to the patient. But after the bandage treatment came out, we are currently treating these dislocated ribs surgically only in the group of patients who do not recover with bandages at an advanced age.

Rib Flare Orthosis Treatment

Rib flare that has not been corrected with bandage treatment can be successfully treated with “Rib Flare Orthosis”. Rib Flare orthosis adjusted according to body measurements should be worn for at least 8 hours a day until rib Flare is corrected. This period ranges from an average of 6 months to a year. Dec.At an advanced age, this period may extend.

With a new technique developed in 2022, the sponges on the Rib Flairing bandages eliminate dislocation in a shorter time.
